MontyC's Monthly Favourites: August 2014

MontyC's August 2014 Favourties

Hi folks and welcome to a new planned monthly post featuring my favourites from the previous month (these may or may not be products I've blogged about during that month).  The products may not always be new but they'll still be winners by my reckoning!  As this is something I've really just cooked up, my August post is a little late, but the plan is that once a month, likely at the start of each month, I'll write a blog post on  my favourites the previous month in the Mondays with MontyC slot.

So let's crack on with my August 2014 favourites!

1.  Charlotte Tilbury's Magic Cream

Even though this is a relatively recent addition to my skincare product arsenal, I absolutely bloody love this stuff (read my (rave) review of it here).  This is such an amazing product that really does do what it says on the pot - "treats and transforms" your skin.  It's a beautifully rich, hydrating moisturiser that not only makes your skin feel really comfortable but also makes your skin glow with a capital G.  This is radiance in jar.  Love. End of.

2.  Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronised Recovery Complex II

Yes, it's a bit of a mouthful of a name but it's a fantastic product (read my review of it here).  This is a serum that you apply at night after you've cleansed and before your moisturiser.  I use this three to maybe four times a week and the difference it has made to my skin is fantastic.  You only need a couple of drops so a bottle is going to last you a very long time.

3.  Dior Lipstick Addict 260 Rose Deshabille

It's been ages since I blogged about makeup!  It seems to have been mainly skincare lately.  There hasn't really been any one reason for it, it has just worked out that way.  But one thing I have been doing with my makeup is downsizing it.  I want my makeup collection to only contain the things that I absolutely love and love to wear.  And this lipstick is most definitely one of them.  It doesn't look like the most exciting colour in the world but trust me, this is a beauty.  It's Every Situation -appropriate and of course nude/nude-ish colours make your lips look effortlessly bigger.  Divine.

4.  Bobbi Brown Illuminating Bronzing Power - Antigua

Now I know that Bobbi Brown says that this is a bronzer, but on my fair skin, this works better as a blusher and that's exactly how I use it.  This is actually my second one of these, that's how much I love wearing it.  It's a gorgeous soft rosy colour with micro fine golden shimmer shot through it which gives my cheeks a lovely healthy glow.  This is one of those foolproof products that you simply can't go wrong with.

5.  Chanel eye shadow blender brush No. 19

I'm a big fan of top quality, well made makeup brushes that will stand the test of time and use.  Look after them properly and they'll last you for years and years.  I don't think that you have to go expensive with all of your brushes but there are times, for some brushes, that it makes sense.  Granted Chanel's brushes are expensive but they're so worth it in my opinion.

L -> R: Chanel No19, MAC 217

This brush in particular is a firm favourite.  The white bristle brush itself is slightly shorter and slightly fatter than the MAC 217 but because of that, it picks up the perfect amount of eye shadow, it's easy to use on the lid as an applicator brush and it's great as an effortless-blender brush and it works as a crease brush nicely too.  Funds permitting, I would happily go off and get half a dozen more.  Maybe one day!

Until next Monday,
@MontyC
