It has been a while since I've posted a preview post and this one certainly looks interesting - Vichy have released a new product, Normaderm Night Detox, the world’s very first detox & purifying night cream for oily skin ladies and gents.
Oily skin produces three times more sebum than that of normal skin, and skin produces most of its sebum around midnight, so you'll always find that your skin (whatever its type) is oilier in the morning than later on in the day. This excess sebum is visible the next morning and is most noticeable around takes around twelve hours for this excess sebum to be excreted to the surface of the skin. If you have oily skin, this explains why your make-up always disappears by around about lunchtime!
Although no product will completely reset your skin's type, you can help address the problem with very oily skin, if you detoxify and purify your skin before you go to bed.
From an ingredients perspective, on the detoxifying side, 0.1% eperuline (similar to glycolic acid) and 0.5% salicylic acid (one of the best ingredients you can see in products which deal with oily or spot-prone skin) assist with neutralising and eliminating toxins and impurities from the bacteria that unfortunately accompany particularly oily skin. This helps to clear the skin.
On the de-greasing side, an ingredient known as perlite (0.25%), which absorbs up to three times its weight in sebum, plus other absorbing powders act to soak-up sebum at its peak, so levels are regulated upon waking.
This product claims to control (not eliminate, but control) sebum production, reducing the oily feeling; purify the skin, reducing the appearance of blemishes, and shrinking pores to help even-out skin texture. It has an lightweight oil-free texture, with glycerin & other emollient agents providing moisturisation, and a matte finish.
As with all Vichy products, it's suitable for sensitive skin, is hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic and doesn't contain parabens. The RRP for this is €17 for a 40ml tube. Look here for more info. This is already available in pharmacies nationwide since early September.
