Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair II - review

As last week featured a Bank Holiday Monday over here in Ireland, and we don't post on public holidays on Make Up For Dolls, and as Siobhán has been up the walls with bridals and trials and whatnot, today features another blog by me, MontyC!

In the second of my Estée Lauder serum reviews (first one is here), I'm going talk about... oh I should be honest here... rave about the reformulated serum by the cosmetics powerhouse.  This product, the Advanced Night Repair II serum is one of Estée Lauder's best-selling products.  So if it ain't broke, why did they go and fix it?  Well the science of skincare has come on in leaps and bounds, so Estée Lauder decided it was time to update the formula in keeping with these more recent advances.

The original product focused purely on repair, whereas this reformulated serum not only repairs but purifies as well.  The key new ingredient / technology here (I'm slowly but surely doing my best to get my head around ingredients because they are so important) is something they're calling Catabolysis Technology.

What?!  Basically this translates to how fast the skin can renew itself and get rid of the expelled waste and environmental toxins it picks up during the day.  This serum claims to help with that process.  It also contains hyraluronic acid (which helps skin retain moisture) and antioxidents (which do the repair and protecting bit) and this all adds up to helping to reduce those pesky lines and wrinkles, which helps to slow down the appearance of ageing.  Apparently, it's suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.  It is oil and fragrance-free and non-comedogenic.  So far so good.

The sample I got was quite small and unimpressive but despite that, I still got close to ten nights out of it (a little does indeed go a long way!) and I have to say I was really impressed by it.  The serum itself is very light, practically clear in colour and I found that it sank into my skin really quickly, with no tackiness at all after application.  It felt really good, very light and fresh (the best way to describe it).  The best way I can describe how my skin looked, almost from the first application, is "rested", as fresh as a daisy, irrespective of what other products I layered on top.

Ingredients-wise, this takes a break from the usual water-and-silicone formula that we see in Lauder products, so I don't hesitate to advocate as a skincare product.  It's €83 for 50ml, if you want to know.  It ships with a dropper (oh how I love droppers for serum products).  This serum kicks ass, I can see why it gets the rave reviews it does.  I put it on at night and I look so good in the morning.  What more is there to say?  Just this: highly, highly recommended :-)  I will be purchasing this one!

Until next time (Monday!),
MontyC
