Creme de la Mer The Lifting and Firming Mask - review

Another day, another mask, this time a winner.  Nope, I'm not a snob.  Yes, I do love (some) Creme de la Mer products.  Yes, I do honestly believe that they work.  Yes, there are some other products that I think are actually slightly better, in some cases.  Nope, it's not a question of spending more money.  Now that I have all the "usual" questions out of the way, let's crack on with the actual review.

Costing €190 for 50ml, yes this is rather expensive, no two ways about it.  I can, and should, point out, if anyone is genuinely interested in listening, that you use a minute amount of this stuff.  You're directed to use a really thin later to (clean, obviously) skin on the face and neck, and applying it with the provided synthetic brush makes it simple to keep to the "less-is-more" principle of all Creme de la Mer products.  Case-in-point, I have used it maybe six or seven times now (I'm sparing it!  It's expensive!) and I've barely made a slight dent in the top.

To get the most out of this, after applying it, massage it into your face for a couple of minutes, and then leave it alone.  Don't remove it, and in all likelihood, don't put anything on top of it either.  The SA at the CDLM counter encouraged me to use this at night-time to replace my usual night-time regime, and to use it every second-to-third day (hello, at that price, once a week is fine, thank you very much).

This is a hybrid gel-cream-serum-masque-moisturiser texture, which feels slightly cooling, but not in a tingly way.  It doesn't feel like a rich cream, it doesn't feel like a gel, it doesn't feel like a serum, or an oil, or a silicone-based whatsit either.  It's slightly like the CDLM Moisturising Soft Cream.  But different.  It's the same gentle pale green as most CDLM "stuff".  It has the same gentle scent as most CDLM "stuff".  It contains the CDLM "Miracle Broth" stuff, like most of their products.

My skin genuinely feels instantly relaxed when I use it.  Comforted.  Chilled out.  And on waking the next morning it is noticeably softer, smoother and more plumped-out.  I can't honestly say I've observed that it's any more firm or more toned, or more lifted, but I have to say I absolutely love this stuff, and I expect that at my current use, this mask will last me at least a year.  If "tightening, lifting and refining" are your requirements, I can't honestly say I've noticed it lives up to this and maybe you need to continue your look elsewhere.  However if you're willing to settle for "relaxed, comfortable, brightened, plumped-up, softened", this will fit the bill really nicely.  Look here for more info if so.
