Sisley Hydra-Global Intense Anti-Aging Hydration moisturiser - review

Last Friday was the turn of a newly formulated night cream, today on Mondays with MontyC we're turning back to a fantastic daytime offering, Sisley's Hydra-Global Intense Anti-Aging Hydration moisturiser.

Oh how I wish I didn't like this stuff so much!

We all know the drill.  If you need to fly and you need to take cosmetics with you, then you know you can't travel with anything bigger than a Brussels sprout.  So that means either decanting your products into little pots or bring samples with you.  I did a combination of the two for my recent holidays and one of the samples I brought with me was this day cream by Sisley.  After my amazing facial with them, this was recommended to me as the most suitable one for my skin, so I was really looking forward to trying it and also seeing how it would cope with very hot weather.

According to Sisley "Hydra-Global is an intensive hydrating, anti-ageing skincare product designed to provide a comprehensive solution to the problem of skin dehydration".  Yep, it most certainly is.  Despite temperatures well into the 30's, lots of sun cream, sweat (sorry, gross but true), this kept my skin looking in tip top condition.  When you see the word "intensive" you would be forgiven for assuming that a cream product will be stupidly rich and thick but this one isn't.  Quite the opposite in fact;  Iit's a soft cream-gel fluid that feels light to the touch.  You might wonder how something that feels as light as it does be "intensive", but it is.  When I applied it, it felt "minty fresh" on my skin (the best way I can think of to describe the feeling upon application!), really cooling and comfortable and that feeling of comfort lasts all day.  No creaminess, no stickiness, nothing.  My skin just lapped it all up, it looked fresh and calm (no redness), really hydrated, plumped-up and healthy.  This also makes a wonderful base for makeup. With it's soft matte finish, it provides a beautiful starting point for foundation.

Ingredients-wise, water and glycerin get top billing, along with a bunch of seed oils and extracts.  Silicones do make an appearance, including algae extract, paraffin and some alcohols.  I can understand how some of these ingredients work wonders, but I'm scratching my head at the others.  Either way, it works.

Without a doubt, this has to be one of the best day creams I have ever used (according to Sisley, this can be used both day and night).  It's light, comfortable and keeps the skin super hydrated all day.  Plus a little goes a long way.  There is absolutely nothing I would change about this product.  Apart from one thing.  The price:  this cream costs €173 for 40ml.  Whether that is within your budget or not, is no one's business but your own.  Leaving the price out of it, would I recommend this cream?  In a heartbeat.

Until next Monday!
