Roger & Gallet, them of the lovely soaps and the gorgeous shower gels, have released a brand new fragrance, just in time for summer. Supposedly inspired by ultramarine skies, the warmth of the sun, dust trails and the sea surrounding Zanzibar... Gingembre Rouge Eau Fraiche has ginger, ginger, and more ginger top middle and bottom notes...
The Perfume
Roger & Gallet Gingembre Rouge Eau Fraiche Perfume |
There's no point in lying, this fragrance won't be for everyone, but if you like heady, sweet-but-zingy, warm-and-rounded-but-spicy smelling perfumes, this is for you most definitely. It's quite a warm, powdery, languid, slightly spicy perfume. Although it is reasonably light and refreshing on application, I find that there's too much benzoin for my liking - on my skin, it fades away to something a little too sweet for my personal taste. Give it a try though - you'll find it already out and available for testing...
Head/Top Notes
Floral top notes of ginger flower, orange blossom and lychee flower, mixed with some pink peppercorn spicy notes.
Heart/Middle Notes
Red fruit notes via Pomegranate pulp, the zingy lemony notes of fresh ginger, and the citrus notes of mandarin.
Base Notes
Warm, sweet, woody notes of white musk, crystallised ginger, cedar wood and a hint of benzoin (the latter will be responsible for all the sweetness then).
All of this comes in the same shaped bottle, but apparently with a sculpted lid, like so many things these days, with a nod to Art Deco (really? Honestly, I don't see it...) and available already from selected pharmacies and Marks & Spencer Beauty Halls nationwide. This will set you back around €40 for 100ml or €17.50 for 30ml.

So I recently, by the skin of my teeth, passed 500 followers on Twitter. To celebrate this, and as a thank you to you all, I'd like to offer someone from my Twitter subscribers a full-sized bottle of this new perfume. All you have to do is retweet this from your twitter account and DM me on Twitter (Facebook, G+, Email subscribers, this one is not for you, sorry!) to @MakeUpForDolls. I'll announce the winner in another week, or thereabouts!
