The Nail Files: Collection Révélation de Chanel - reviews & swatches (Taboo, Taboo, Taboo!)

Oooooooh, sparkles!

This may be the fastest promo-purchase-review set of posts ever :-)

On Friday last I blogged about the latest Chanel Collection, Révélation de Chanel - a mini collection comprising lipglosses and the much-awaited Taboo nail varnish.

On Saturday, I purchased.

Today I'm reviewing :-)

Chanel Savage Grace & Taboo

I limited myself to two items - from les Lèvres Scintellantes, I'd been interested in three glosses, but this one, 175/ Savage Grace (a new shade), caught my eye the most.

Chanel Savage Grace - swatch

As you can see, this is a beautiful super-glossy hot raspberry pink-garnet shot through with pink and electric purple shimmer.  It's like a darker, more shimmery, more glossy and more raspberry-pink than raspberry-red version of Triomphal.  With sparkles*.  Me likeeeeeee a lot.

*OK so nothing like Triomphal at all really, but it reminds me of it, is all :-)

Wheeeeeee... finally!

And, of course, I wasn't going to leave without Le Vernis in 583/ Taboo (another new shade) - this one is a listed in PR material as a "shimmering violet plum that reveals bluish red tones at its heart" - it's a really strange one; in the bottle and in images it looks like it's another plum-burgundy with red and blue undertones:

The blue is very evident in most lights...
... looking down into the bottle, however, it looks like a darkened blue.

yum yum yum yum yum
that is all

... and on the nails, it's definitely a purple; think of the colour purple of the Cadbury's chocolate wrappers - almost like that, but with a red undertone that's very visible in some light (almost-but-not-quite a duotone) and a subtle purple shimmer.  It's a lot more complicated than it first looks, and I absolutely love it.  Given that I've been waiting for this one since around April, it hasn't disappointed!

No harm in knowing that this is a lot more blue-purple in real life than warm garnet plum, which is how it appears in the bottle; as I'd purchased Savage Grace and Taboo to go together - but they don't really match at all (as you can see from the first image).

Look here for more information on the entire collection.
