How I... store my cream products

As promised last week, this one is pretty short and sweet... a quick peek into my cream products and how I store them.

Most of the cream products I use are here

This one is pretty straightforward.  I used to use Muji towers, as I've described in previous posts, however to be honest I was running out of those pretty quickly.  Makes sense to keep these products either upside down or side-on, so you can see what's what (well, mostly anyhow).

On the left: MAC Paint Pots, Make Up For Ever Aqua Creams, Shiseido Cream Eye Colour
In the middle: MAC Cream Colour Bases, Illamasqua Cream Pigments, Ben Nye Crème Blushes, Stila, Becca, NARS, Laura Mercier, Sleek, etc...
Chanel Ombre d'Eau (discontinued), NARS Multiples, misc...
and on the right: Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadows, Chanel Illusion d'Ombres, By Terry, Jemma Kidd, Illamasqua, e.l.f.,  MAC Pro Sculpting Creams, Maybelline 24 Hour Color Tattoo shades...

Proper storage of cream products (to avoid spoilage and prevent them from drying out) requires that the lids are kept very tightly in place, and the products themselves are kept away from heat.  This is another reason I took 'em out of the (see-through) Muji boxes and put them into a nice dark drawer.

My favourite products?  I love them all!  MAC Paint Pots are amazing, as are the Chanel Illusion d'Ombre shades.  I love the MAC Pro Sculpting Creams and I'm rocking very little other than a blend of about five different NARS Multiples on my face in the summer heat.  I absolutely loved the Chanel Ombre d'Eau formula (sadly now discontinued) - I have five or six of these and am guarding them carefully :-)  If you're looking for an amazingly pigmented, beautiful looking and inexpensive cream blusher, you can't go wrong with Ben Nye.  I use these in class and everyone is always blown away by how amazing they are.

Best overall nude?  It depends on your skintone, but MAC Paint Pots generally are a good bet, and it's really worth keeping an eye out for LE (matte) nude versions to get one to match your skin if Painterly or Groundwork don't work for you.

Best overall black?  Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eyecolour in black, hands down.

Don't recommend?  Anything that's purple.  In general I've found that purple cream products just don't have the kind of payoff you'd expect.  I've been disappointed over and again by purple (in particular) cream products.

I have largely stopped purchasing cream products at this point; I have a very wide range of colours and I'm happy enough to make do with what I've got.  I know that in comparison to a lot of bloggers/MUAs, I have a moderate enough collection, and it's strange for me to admit I've got enough at this point, but I have, and I am not too pushed about replacing.  The only shades I really would bother with getting from here on in are more matte skin-tone shades.
