La Roche-Posay Rosaliac UV Legere - review

Today's Guest Post comes courtesy of none-other than Make Up For Dolls Mammy, if you're not offended.  She has been trialling a number of products for me for more mature skin for the last while, so expect a couple of blog posts from her.  She has also just returned from travelling around Australia in a campervan and she was keen to get her mitts on some decent, ultra-hydrating, SP-containing, moisturisers before she left.  So I supplied, and today she's reporting on the lovely La Roche-Posay Rosaliac UV Legere moisturiser.


"Now I'm 64" here reporting on Rosaliac UV Legere moisturiser by La Roche-Posay, a French brand I believe.

This appears to be the age of skin hydration, which is great for those of us with older skins;  diminishing the appearance of wrinkles and regenerating the parchment that has lived under this planet's sun for the bigger part of a century.  Now that's a task akin to the search for the Holy Grail.  I believe I may attribute my good skin to my mother who used only cold cream all her life and has the skin of a forty year old.  But, to give credit where it's due, progress has been achieved in skincare products, and my somewhat sceptical views on "fancy" elixirs and potions have been rattled of late, not least of which because I have a daughter who nags me about using the "right" products for the job at hand.

I have been using this moisturizer on-and-off (mainly on) and I did alternate with other moisturisers (more on that below).  I have observed that like other very good moisture replacers that I have used, this did the         job very well but with the added advantage that it didn't leave shine or grease on my face.  Shine is the enemy of the older face as it highlights imperfections.

A very important aspect of the care of her skin by an older woman is a psychological one - and when a positive experience is gained by a new product, this makes me happy and confident.  When we're happy and confident, our bodies produce more endorphins and help make us look and feel better.  This aspect of a product should never be neglected, especially when you get older and every little increase in muscle tone is greatly, and gratefully, welcomed!

So as I mentioned above, while trialling this product I used it on the right side of my face only, and used other moisturisers on the left hand side.  My partner's observation was "why does your right cheek feel so soft and smooth?" ... what more can I say?!

While I believe this is suited to all skin types and ages, it gets a very big thumbs up from me (mature, no, maturing skin, shall we say, normal-to-dry, with some (but not a lot) of red patches).  I think it'll set you back around €23? ish from good pharmacies nationwide, more than I'd usually spend on a moisturiser but well worth it.
