Now this one is very exciting news for the ladies with more mature skin out there! Vichy, a long-time pioneer of menopause skincare, is introducing Neovadiol Magistral Elixer, an intensely nourishing skincare oil for dry and very dry skins, for mature skins, for those ladies going through or at the other side of, the menopause... this product claims to offer deep and very visible transformations to the skin, smoothing, re-plumping and reviving radiance on those skin types.
Menopause-caused thinning of the skin is due to a reduction in oestrogen and progesterone, which disrupts each layer of the skin. The skin's lipids are not only oils which help plump the skin up, they also ensure vital density and cohesion between the skin's cells too boot. Loss of these lipids, common in menopause, can result in dry, fragile skin, slackened, dull skin.
Difficult name aside, this product combines a trio of oils rich essential omega fatty acids which, as most people will know, help with lipid reconstruction; safflower seed oil (omega 6 & 9), to nourish and soften the skin, bran rice oil (omega 3, 6 & 9), an antioxidant with emollient properties, and shea butter (omega 6 & 9), an anti-inflammatory which promotes synthesis of lipids.
This is an ultra-light dry oil (this means it's made from volatile compounds which evaporate on the skin, so you won't be left with an oily residue). One of the big product claims is that this is non-greasy, non-sticky and non-shiny.
- As a serum (a few drops on your skin applied underneath your moisturiser)
- As a balm (as a boost to your day/night cream, add a few drops in with your moisturiser)
- As a moisturising mask (apply to your face and leave it for ten minutes to instantly re-plump)
This is already available from pharmacies nationwide at €35 a pop. Watch out for a review of this one in a few weeks' time! Although she doesn't know it yet, Mammy Make Up For Dolls is going to be trialling this one and reporting back!
