Shu Uemura Depsea Range Review

Shu Uemura Depsea
Hydrability Moisturizing
Reasonably recently I realised I was running out of cleanser*, the horror!  I hightailed it into my local friendly store** and was seduced by the Mamechivo collection for Shu Uemura and left with my trusty cleansing oil in Green***.  While there I managed to convince the SA to part with a freebie (and decent sized sample of) the Depsea Hydrability Moisturizing Cream to try out.  As you can see, I already have the Lotion (large bottle - this is a toner), and Concentrate (small almost used up bottle - this is the serum).  So, y'know, it's nice to have the collection to try out.

So try it out I did.  For a week, morning and evening.  That's usually enough time for my skin to decide to kick up and scream, or get clogged up, or get dried out.  It didn't do any of the above.  This stuff works.  It's actually, just quietly, unassumingly, good.  It's not shouting-and-roaring-and-screamingly OTT Creme de la Mer good, but it does what it's supposed to do.  It moisturises quite well thank you.  My skin hasn't felt dry or tight.  Now, that said, I do cleanse with Shu Uemura oil in the evening, which certainly helps with keeping my skin from drying out.

The range contains hyaluronic acid and very definitely makes your skin feel softer after use (the lotion/toner in particular).  This range is not strictly recommended for very dry skin, but skin that's "prone to dryness", which may or may not be my schizophrenic skin, depending on time of year.

Will I repurchase****?  Tentatively, possibly.  The reason I say only possibly is because (prior to my getting the moisturiser to try out) I did use just the toner and serum on their own (ie under other skin care) before and felt they were a bit "meh".  Together, the "system" of the three products together does seem to work.  But I like to be able to mix and match products to try them out... so I'm not sure I want to be stuck having to go down the route of having to always use these together.  If I were to repurchase any in particular, I would just recommend the lotion, it's a particularly gorgeous toner that makes your skin feel soft, refreshed, fully cleansed, soft, but not dry or "stretched" in any way.

* Far too much alliteration for this hour of the morning
** Brown Thomas is hit-and-miss in terms of friendliness, but that was a good day it would seem
*** I know it's not called "Green" :-)
**** In the interest of fairness I should point out that all of these items were freebies at one point or other.  I definitely will replace the lotion/toner when it runs out however.
